Grand Master


Mohanlal is starring as a police officer in B.Unnikrishnan’s next Malayalam movie ‘Grand Master’, which is being produced by UTV Motion Pictures, their first venture in Malayalam. Max Lab has bagged the distribution right. Priyamani will play the lead role that of a lawyer in the movie.

In ‘Grand Master’, Mohanlal is playing an interesting Cop who is a mastermind in the game of Chess. However, he fails to master his life, with him divorced and living alone. Later on, he meets a stranger who changes his course of life and creates problems. Then it is all about how he moves his pawns to get back his life. The movie has a plot, which shows the dark side of city life. Director B.Unnikrishnan said he is planning on a different approach of film making on this one.

Actor Narain is joining the crew donning an important role in the film. He is playing a vibrant anti-hero role in this Malayalam movie. Narain was so excited after hearing the story and he immediately signed for the movie. This is the first time he is doing a role with grey shades. Earlier Tamil actress Andrea was supposed to do the lead role along with Mohanlal, which eventually went to Priyamani. In the movie there is said to be no romantic angle between the leads.

Jagathy Saikumar, Siddique, Sampath, Roma and Jaya Menon are other mainstream actors who plays important roles in this Malayalam movie. Deepak Dev will compose music for ‘Grand Master’.

The shooting is scheduled to start in December after Christmas and the movie will hit the theatres on April 5, 2012.
